  16. <p>     Climate and Clothing: The Gambia's sub-tropical climate has a
  17. distinct hot, rainy season (mid-May to mid-November). During the
  18. cold, dry season (mid-November to mid-May), wear a light jacket
  19. or sweater.
  20. </p>
  21. <p>     Health: Sanitation in Banjul is fair and tapwater is potable.
  22. Yellow fever, rabies, tetanus, typhus, and typhoid immunizations
  23. and antimalaria suppressants are recommended. The swamps around
  24. Banjul breed mosquitoes.
  25. </p>
  26. <p>     Telecommunications: Telex service is available to the US,
  27. Europe, and Dakar. Radiotelephone service operates to the UK,
  28. most of Europe, and the west coast of Africa. Satellite-
  29. telephone service is available to Europe and the US. Banjul is
  30. five standard time zones ahead of eastern standard time.

  32. <p>     Transportation: Banjul is 25 minutes by air from Dakar, where
  33. worldwide air connections are frequent and excellent. Direct
  34. flights to London from Banjul operate on Mondays and Fridays.
  35. Taxis are available at stands; agree on the fare in advance.
